    What are Web Pages?

Your Web Pages are all the pages that you create and populate to make up your site. They can be re-ordered according to your needs and cloned if you have multiple pages that use the same layout and Modules; a good example would be 'Location' pages.

    Managing your Web Pages

    Adding

Whether adding additional pages to an existing site or starting from scratch, adding pages is a very straightforward process.

Make sure you are inside the Web Pages section; click the 'Add New Page' button, and a new window will open for you to set up your new page.

In this new window, you will need to fill in all the fields to get your page set up and ready to populate.

Type of Page: The 'Internal' option is for the pages that are created within the CMS platform. Use 'External' when you are looking to add a 3rd party page to your site. 'NoLink' creates a page that will not show on the front end of the site; this option is very handy when grouping your pages together, so a non-link page can be used as a simple folder to hold grouped pages together.
Page Name: The name you set for the page is what you will see in your 'Web Pages' list.
Page Filename: Another name for this is a 'slug', meaning a unique name of the page that will display in the URL. Please be aware that for this field, you can not use capital letters or spaces.
Display Name: This is used on page links or breadcrumbs. If left blank, then it will be automatically populated with the page name instead. This is only generally used if the page is known as something different on the live site compared to the CMS.
Parent Page: This is used when you are grouping your folders together. The parent/child relationships can be set by re-ordering the pages or by selecting a parent page from the drop-down list of all the pages you have created so far.
Are child pages stored in folder?: Ticking this will make any child pages for this page be placed in a folder using the page filename field above, and the URL will be of the format /[page filename]/[child page filename] (eg. /about-us/meet-the-team/)

Page Template: This dictates the main layout of your page, like navigation and footers.
Page Layout: This is used to set the rest of your page, all the things in between the navigation bar and the footer. The page layout also dictates whether the page is a static HTML or there are dynamic elements to it.
Page Styles: These are predefined styles based on your design; additional CSS style sheets can be also added here.
Page Target: Determines the action when clicking on a link in the menu (for example). '_parent' will open the link in the same window and '_blank' will open the link in a new browser tab or window.
Place behind a secure login: If this is ticked, the page will be placed in a secure area and only be available to users logged into the site. This allows for gated content if some aspects need to be kept private or for a specific audience.
Language Parent Page: For Href Lang, select the matching page in the default language area.
Meta details: There are three main fields for the meta data; title, canonical and description.

The CMS is equipped with help tags, where each field is explained to support you through the process of setting up pages or population modules. They can be seen in the screenshots above as grey boxes on the right-hand side next to each field, tick box or drop-down menu.

    Editing

Editing existing pages is a very similar process to adding new ones. Navigate to the page you would like to edit and click the settings cog on the right-hand side; this will open the 'Page Setup' window, and you can follow the same steps detailed above.

    Cloning

When you have multiple pages with the same layout but different content, cloning a page is a useful tool, as it keeps all the child/parent relationships, page templates and layouts, as well as all the modules on the page. This means that if you want to create 3 'Location' pages e.g. Manchester, London, Leeds - you don't have to go through the whole process of adding modules to the page for every location; all you'll need to do is tailor the content for each location page.

To clone your page, navigate to the page of interest, and click on the name so it brings up the preview on the right-hand side.

Above the preview, you will see three icons, 'Refresh', 'Clone' and 'Settings'.

Click the 'Clone' icon, and this will bring up the 'Page Setup' window for the new page clone you're about to create.

    Publishing your Web Pages

There are two main ways to publish your web pages. One is to publish individual pages, and the other is to publish the full site.

    Staging vs Live

When you are working on your site, you don't always want the new under-construction pages to be visible to the public, and this is where the Staging environment comes in. It loads your page in a test environment that is only visible to you, so any mistakes or drafts will not be visible to the public. Once you are happy with your page and the content, you can then publish to the Live environment, making your change visible to the public.

Publishing a Single Page vs Publishing the Whole Site.

When editing or populating your web page, you will notice the two buttons ('Publish to Staging' and 'Publish to Live') at the top of the preview window. This option allows you to publish that one single page that you are currently working on. This comes in very handy when you are changing or adding a new element to that specific page, and this page has no effect on the rest of the site. This is a quick and easy way to add any new information or a new page.
Now, let's look at a different scenario; let's say your company has moved to a different office, which means you now need to edit every single footer information across your whole site. But the good news is that the footer is a global module, so if you edit it on one page, it will change across the whole site.

To get this update showing on all pages of your site, you can simply do a full site publish. To do this, click on the 'Publish Site' tab; here you'll have the option to publish to live or staging.
